Liverpool Based Intercity Recovery Take Delivery

Established in 1989, Intercity Recovery has been in business under the current family ownership for over 2 decades.

Being one of the North-West’s leading recovery operators, and running their services 24 hours a day, they need an efficient and reliable fleet, and they chose Dave Bland Engineering to supply their most recent vehicle.

Sean Flynn, general manager at Intercity Recovery stated, "we decided to go with Dave Bland, because we previously purchased a second hand vehicle that had a Dave Bland build on it. We were highly impressed with the quality and build, and immediately decided that for our future new vehicles we would be in touch with Dave Bland".

Based in Liverpool, Merseyside, Intercity Recovery were supplied with a new 7.5 tonne Mitsibuishi Canter Fuso, which Dave Bland fitted with a 20-foot, 3500kg tilt and slide body and a rear-mounted 1500kg spec lift with flip over head.

Sean remarked, "due to the fact all our of our staff are fully trained technicians, their daily duties can range from a standard home start to a full lift recovery job for the police, so we required a versatile and reliable vehicle with good manouverability, excellent payload and good locker space".

The body was fitted with stainless steel tool lockers and rear-light valance, which have been a feature on Dave Bland Engineering bodies for many years now as an alternative to the use of perishable mild-steel. As both the tool-lockers and rear-light valance are highly vulnerable to the effects of stone-chips and road salt, the use of stainless steel lengthens the life span of the product, before it needs repairing or replacing.

This idealistic use of stainless steel has also been extended to our new fully enclosed spool valve box, a recent addition to Dave Bland’s design catalogue. For many years, operators have been sold spool valve boxes which appear to be enclosed with a front door, but have a large cut-out to the rear to facilitate the fitting of hydraulic pipes. This allows road spray and water to infiltrate and destroy the highly important fittings the spool valve box is supposed to protect. However, with Dave Bland slide bodies, the fully enclosed stainless steel spool valve boxes aim to deter this damage from occurring, maintaining the workability of the hydraulics.

So of course, the risk of corrosion will cause no distress to Intercity Recovery, and their new vehicle!

Sean finished with saying, "we are delighted with the vehicle, and would not hesitate in recommending Dave Bland Engineering to anybody in the industry. We look forward to ordering our next vehicle!"
