Dave Bland Rises to the MJS Challenge

Posted 21st July 2011

When MJS Shipping and Transport Ltd of Southampton, who have shipped all the exported Morgan Motor Company cars Worldwide for the last 7 years, were asked to handle the brand new 2011/12 production year Morgan Eva GT, it set quite a challenge for company boss Martin Suddards.

The new EVA GT, a four seater, was over 12 inches longer than the current Morgan Supersports, and would not fit any of their 3.5 ton single car trucks or towable trailers.

Martin said "all our equipment was manufactured around the current largest car in the Morgan Motor Company range the Aero 8, now known as the Supersports, so this time we needed to go BIGGER!”

Enter Dave Bland Engineering of York, a company who are currently celebrating their 25th year of successful business and are well known throughout the industry as top quality designers and suppliers of bespoke equipment, often supplying companies who deal in the movement of high value sports cars. Dave Bland liases closely with his customers to ensure that all aspects of their requirements are taken into consideration when designing the equipment.

Dave first offered a single car transporter solution, with a demountable body which could load a super low sports car of pretty much any manufacturer. However, MJS Shipping thought if we have to go down the route of Operator Licence, CPC Transport Manager, Driver CPC, and over 7.5 tons, Martin decided, lets go for it and go large.

The Dave Bland Engineering 2 Car Transporter is designed and built for the transport and haulage of high-value prestige cars, and benefits from a full-width low-angle hydraulic tail door. This enables the loading of vehicles fitted with very low spoilers. Sliding side curtains enable full access for securing the car, and also allows the side loading of car-body shells. The upper deck has a capacity of 2500KG which enables the loading of 99% of current market vehicles.

Morgan Motor Company were very impressed with the new truck, used for the first time this week and their Sales Director, Mark Ledington, said "this is typical of MJS Shipping and Transport, they always seem to be one step ahead and by providing a solution for the new EVA GT when it comes to market soon means we can concentrate on our core activity, building cars and MJS can concentrate on getting them to our dealer network in the exact same pristine condition for us, like they have done for many years"
