Auto Rescue: Dave Bland Customers Since 1995

Posted 29th November 2010

Everyone appreciates a pat on the back occasionally and we at Dave Bland Engineering are no exception.

Long-term customer Alan Green of Auto Rescue writes about his experience with Dave Bland Engineering, which started 15 years ago.

“In 1995 the old GMP - Divisional ROTA System for Garages - changed to a contracted scheme under the AAD Bailey Toon Partnership. Auto rescue were included in the new contract and had short notice to upgrade existing equipment. To this end, we purchased 2 second hand Ford cargos, one at 14 tonne, and the other at 17. The latter required the fitting of a 9 tonne/metre Hiab as an accident unit.

“After many phone calls we contacted Dave Bland with the supply and fit of the slide bodies, as well as the fitting of the Hiab. Both were completed within our deadline and since that time Dave Bland Engineering has been our preferred supplier of recovery equipment.

“When the accident unit needed replacing early in 2010, we decided that the equipment was still in good order and could be refitted to a newer truck. A Leyland DAF 75.250 with a 28 tonne/metre PM crane was purchased from Bickford trucks and the body from the old cargo, now 14 years old, was refitted.

“We think the pictures of the truck & body speak for themselves. The only alterations to the body were the installation of winching posts, the fitting of LED side markers, and replacement of the side rave with stainless steel capping. The original high level of build quality has allowed us to take this route for a replacement vehicle.

“To that end we must commend Dave and all his staff for a product that proves the old saying ‘you only get what you pay for’. We’ve had our money’s worth twice over! Once again, many thanks to Dave, Cheryl and all at Dave Bland Engineering”.

Auto Rescue have been coming back to Dave Bland Engineering for the past 15 years, and took away their most recent vehicle in October of this year. They see the year out with their brand-new Dave Bland Engineering build - an MAN TGL 12.250 Crew Cab, fitted with an SLA slide bed and spectacle lift. The vehicle also boasts a stainless steel spool valve box and tool lockers, fitted for low corrosion and a longer life span.

We would like to thank Alan and Mel for the kind contribution of this article.
